# /r/Peloton Pre-TDF Survey 2020

Gentlemen, Ladies and those otherwise addressed - we know you've been waiting for a good thing, and the survey results are finally ready!
The answers were collected from you all during August 2020 with 1428 unique replies. That's a participation of 0.5% of all subscribers! That's really not too bad, when you keep in mind how popular these kind of surveys are. But we here at /peloton want to show you that this is all about presenting the information in the subreddit to cater better to our audience!
Updated after a few hours to include some more historical data the final edit that for some reason wasn't copied properly

Do you maintain an interest in women's professional road racing? '19 '20

Still very much a half/half interest in women's cycling on the subreddit.

6. How much of the women's season do you follow?

The following is true for the half of you that follows womens cycling.
How Much %
Just the biggest televised events 63.15%
Most of the live televised/delayed coverage stuff 29.08%
All televised racing 5.09%

Simplified the years a little this time, but whilst we have a fair number of newbies, most people have picked the sport up since around 2013/14.

8. Do you have like/dislike feelings about WT teams?

Once more, 14.4% of people really don't have feelings on the subject.

Karma -167 324 465 -95 -20 -258 872 182 341 -213
So, the most popular team this year is Jumbo-Visma, followed by Quick-Step & Bora-hansgrohe. Least popular are Ineos & UAE.
As per usual, no one cares about NTT & CCC, with nearly 81% of users rating NTT as meh. Pretty damning stuff.
Lastly, we have the usual historical comparison of how teams have fared over time, normalised to respondents to that question on the survey.
Things to note then, firstly that the Astana redemption arc is over, seeing them back in the negative, maybe Fulgsangs spring issues helped aid that? The petrodollar teams of UAE & Bahrain are stubbornly negative too, with Israel keeping up the Katusha negative streak. Meanwhile, at the top end, EF & Jumbo go from strength to strength, whilst some others like Sunweb are sliding over time - their transfer policies no doubt helping that.

That's not a lot of confidence in Richie Porte either, the man who was to finish on the third spot of the podium. Alexander Foliforov (0,23%) had just a tiny number of votes less, and that man wasn't even in the race.

24. What for you was the defining cycling moment of the previous decade?

We had a lot of brilliant suggestions, but these were the clear five favourites when we tabulated the results.
Honorable mentions go to the Giro 2018, which had Tom Dumoulin winning, and of almost identical fascination to many of you - Tom Dumoulin going on someones porta-potty in the middle of the stage.
Little bit of recency bias perhaps, but that's better than ignoring that this was for the last decade and firmly insisting Tom Boonens 2005 WC win was the biggest thing. Special shoutout to almost all the Danes present in /peloton who voted for Mads Pedersens WC win last year. It's an understandable reaction.

We promise to feature one of these suggestions in the next survey
Suggestions
We will try to implement this. But it will also skew results.
About the Survey
The subscribers are torn on Women's cycling, nearly a 50/50 split there as the survey showed - The moderators at /peloton are firmly in the "more cycling is better" basket, and we will continue to get as good coverage of womens cycling as possible.
Are you trying to give the moderators PTSD? Because this is how you give the moderators PTSD.

26. Any suggestions for the sub?

ALSJFLKAJSLDKJAØLSJKD:M:CSAM)=#/()=#=/")¤=/)! - Your moderator seems to be out of function. Please stand by while we find you a new moderator
The Weekly threads are great for these types of questions, where several people can contribute and build up once it is understood which information is relevant.
Our experience is that "limited" will never be so, if we're going to moderate it fairly. Moderating is not a popularity contest, but believe it or not, we're actually trying to be as fair as possible. and for that, we need rules that are not subjective. Unless you have a stationary exercise bike.
All of these are good suggestions, but remember that all of you can also contribute - The mods are sometimes stretched thin, specially in the middle of hectic race schedules. It's easier if one of you has a way to contact a rider or a person of interest and can facilitate the initial communication.
We've worked on this! The Official Standard is now as follows: [Race Thread] 202x Race Name – Stage X (Class)
This sounds as a nice community project for the after-season, and hopefully many of you subscribers can contribute.
Come with suggestions on how to tidy it up!
We have chastised all the mods. They are now perfectly trained in gender-neutral pronouns. Be well, fellow being.
If we can implement this for hard liquor, you know we will.
The spoiler rule is one that is discussed frequently - in general - some users absolutely hate it, but a majority love it. Perhaps we'll include a question in the next survey to see how this divide is exactly.
We actually do - whenever there is a matter of life or death, we think public information is more important than a spoiler rule. But at the same time, we try to collect all the different posts into one main thread, so to keep things focused and letting very speculative posts meet with hard evidence from other sources.
This is a tough ask of the internet. While we can agree that voting should be done accordingly to what insights they bring, not subjective opinions, it is very hard to turn that type of thinking around. We can ask of you, our subscribers, that you please think twice about hitting that downvote button, and only do so because of you think a post is factually incorrect, not because it differs with your own subjective opinion.
That's the primary analysis of the survey! Feel free to contribute with how you experience things here!

Where’s the best place to live in light of collapse?

Ok we are 323 comments in on the collapse post and 98% didn’t bother to make even a slightly thoughtful answer. So... i guess i will be the change i want to see in the world
First off, If you are the fatalistic nihlistic type you can just go where you think it will be nice to die, maybe that is with friends and family, maybe it is on a beach in mexico, or feeding your body to the last polar bear. For everyone else that still has the instinct and drive for self-preservation….
What are the best places to be leading up to or during collapse?

First let's question the question.

What difference does it make to know "What are the best places to be leading up to or during collapse"?
The answer is dependent upon your own personal situation. Your personal situation has limiting factors.
Your personal Limiting Factors constrain you usually somewhere between those extremes, everyone has different options.
If we assume you are asking the question "What are the best places to be leading up to or during collapse" because you want to have the best standard of living available for as long as possible or simply survive the incoming population bottleneck, then the practical question becomes ...
"What are the best places to be, leading up to or during collapse, that i can get to, and establish myself in such a way that I can maintain the best standard of living possible for as long as I can or simply increase my probability of surviving the incoming population bottleneck."
It is important to ask this question to constrain the search space to the possible. It makes fuck-all difference if a somali goat herder knows about the ToP SeCret ElitE mULtibiLLioNaIre New ZEaLand sOUth IsLaNd ReDoUbt BuNkeR CoMmUnITy It is not going to help him and should not be in the search space as a survival strategy.
TL:DR Constrain your search space to what is realistically achievable for you.
  1. Start with your baseline probability of survival and increase it.
  2. Don't let a search for "best place" stop you from achieving "good enough place" or "better than where i was previously place".
  3. You are just trying to be an early adopter of increasing your survival probability stats before the non collapse-pilled masses.
  4. Think of surviving bottlenecks like surviving a charging bear attack, you don't need to be able to outrun the bear, you only need to be able to outrun the slowest people in the group up to the point the bear's appetite is satiated.
  5. Remember working with others can leverage group synergies and massively increase the realistic capabilities, but this requires you establish social cohesion with sane cooperative people that have a similar goal orientation. /greencommunes
.............................................................................................................
What are the best places to be, leading up to or during collapse, that i can get to, and establish myself in such a way that I can maintain the best standard of living possible for as long as I can or simply increase my probability of surviving the incoming population bottleneck."

Ok now lets question the new question some more...

In order to answer this we need to untangle some of the subjective and objective elements.
The objective elements of human survival are well known.
Optimizing location is a series of subjective trade-offs. There is no perfect place, they all have advantages and disadvantages.
So you must decide your personal preference of which goods and bads you most desire and what your scenario expectations are of the future.
Your personal preferences and collapse expectations mean the “best area” is specific to you.
What you can achieve and what do you desire, find the overlap between the two, then do research to find the place that gives you the most goods with the least bads and increases your probability of survival and standard of living.
One of the best strategies is to adapt yourself to your local circumstances to take advantage of the advantages, and plan ahead to mitigate the disadvantages, it is really all most people can do for themselves.
Do you like not living in unbearable heat, maybe moving to greenland is NOT a better option than just buying 400watts of solar panels and attaching it to a small efficient AC that keeps one room of your house cool even during summer electricity blackouts. Most problems have multiple solutions, it is worth it to take time and think about things from an economic perspective and different time horizon perspectives.
Increasing your optionality is better than narrowing it when it comes to survival, rather than the binary thinking, of “go way out into the northern mountains, farm and live in a bunker” versus “be a full time yuppie and ignore collapse issues”. Getting 2 acres you can put a cheap used rv camper on and go do permaculture on during weekends, near enough your place of employment/where you live, is probably a better plan. Indeed the small dacha’s and country gardens helped many people survive the collapse of the USSR. They would spend weekends and haul potatoes/veggies back to the city with them on the bus. Hedge your bets to cover the most scenarios including the most likely scenarios like losing your job or getting in a car accident. Survival and thriving always has and always will involve dynamic adaptation.
Here is a very short list of some of potential trade-offs that you may need to think about and some brief descriptions of how they can affect things. This is NOT meant to be a systematic or exhaustive analysis, this is just me stream-of-conscious flowing on strong coffee to help others start thinking about it for themselves. There are unlimited variables
Most of these maps are of the USA. If you have other maps please post them in the comments and i will edit this post to squeeze them in. From these maps and a little critical thinking you can figure out where is best for YOU. If you need to figure something out go to google images and search for maps it is easier than ever to find what you need. But remember the map is not the territory, there are great spots maps don't have the resolution to show. These are just some random things i pulled up real quick. mapporn is a good source

/r/AskHistorians Guide on Finding Family Military Service Records and Military Identification

Hello everyone! We get a fair number of questions here the relate to family history, and specifically military service. There is often little that can be done however, aside from pointing someone in the right direction for their own research, so with that in mind, I've been working for the past few weeks on putting together a guide on retrieving military service records, as well as identifying from photos or uniforms just what Gramps or Grams was doing in the war. This guide will be permanently available on our Wiki (And don't forget to try /Genealogy too for these things!), but it is still a work in progress.
I'd first like to give a major shout-out to the users who helped me by writing out the procedures for several foreign countries I was unfamiliar with (See below), as well as all the flairs who offered their advice and critique. There is still more to add, so I welcome additions from countries that are not yet listed, or suggestions for how to improve sections already here, since I might have made a mistake or two. I'd especially welcome improved resources for the non-American Identification sections, as in many cases I was hard pressed to find quality material to include.
Anyways, without further ado, here you go!

United States

Requesting Records:

The US government makes available the basic records of service members to next of kin through the National Archives and Records Administration. The most common request is for the DD-214, Certificate of Release or Discharge from Active Duty (or earlier, comparable document). As the next of kin, this can be requested online through the National Archives free of charge. Some records are made available online through the Archival Databases.
Be aware that, due to a fire in 1973, the records available are incomplete, with a significant amount of loss occurring for US Army records during World War II (Other branches were not affected). The government has done their best to reconstruct the data from other sources, but it is quite possible that a request cannot be fulfilled, so take that into account when you submit the request for a DD-214.
If you are not the next-of-kin (researching an uncle, for instance), since records that are 62+ years old are considered archival, they are accessible to the general public (which you count as if you are not a parent/spouse/child/sibling), but as a non-relation, require a fee, which varies with the amount of paperwork requested. Non-next of kin must use the SF-180 form to request the records. Full procedure can be found here.
For records of service prior to World War I, however, the process is slightly different, and while still ordered online, it is done through here, and there is a fee attached regardless of being related or not. An alternative, although not always guaranteed, is to go through a service such as Ancestry.com, which has digitized tons and tons of records and makes them available to their paying subscribers. You can often find muster rolls and other military records in their collection, spanning from the Revolution up through World War II. While there is a cost associated with the service, they offer free trials, and often open up the military records to free accounts on military holidays such as Memorial Day or Veterans Day.

Canada

Requesting Records

Library and Archives Canada holds records for Canadian military service dating back to the 1700s, and are working to digitize their records, with much of that from 1918 and earlier already accessible online here. Records from post-1918 are restricted, and may only be accessed under certain conditions, but is accessible to the veteran themselves, or next of kin if deceased. If you wish to request copies of military service files for post-1918, including World War II, you can find more information on the process here.
As with American records, an alternative, although not always guaranteed, is to go through a service such as Ancestry.ca, which has digitized tons and tons of records and makes them available to their paying subscribers. While there is a cost associated with the service, they offer free trials, and often open up the military records to free accounts on military holidays.

Requesting Records

Military service records from prior to 1920 are available through the British National Archives, specifically for World War I service, and for service through 1913. Much of the information is accessible online through Ancestry.co.uk or FindMyPast.co.uk, which do involve fees, although the sites offer free trial periods and periodically make military records free to everyone for certain holidays. Documents can be accessed free of charge by visiting the Archives, but copies do cost money, whether done in person or by request Be aware that some records may have been destroyed by during the bombings of London in World War II.
Post-1920 records are requested from the UK Government, and can be requested by the next of kin. The spouse of a service member may request the records if they are deceased (and the service member themselves), but all other persons pay a £30 fee.
In the case of a person killed in action, the Commonwealth War Graves Commission includes a searchable database of all persons killed in action in the various British and Commonwealth forces during the World Wars, which includes some information.

Requesting Records

For records prior to 1900, the best sources are the Central Bureau for Genealogy (CBG) and the National Archives (NA). The CBG website is easy to use; for the NA you may find contacting them by phone or mail easier. The Netherlands Institute of Military History (NIMH) also may have some information, though "[w]hat the NIMH mainly has to offer is a wealth of general information about life in the military in the past". Note that the information provided here has been taken from the various NIMH pages available via the link above.
There are a few specialized databases, such as this one containing information concerning sea-voyagers (including soldiers) upon ships between 1700 and 1795 who sailed to the Orient, a database of Dutch soldiers in service of Napoleon 1810-1813, and Officers' name and rank lists (1725-1989) (the latter two only available in-person at the NIMH).
For records of people born after 1900 you have to contact the Semi-static Archives Services of the Ministry of Defence. This can only be done in writing. You need to include the full name and date of birth of the person you are looking for, as well as a copy of your own identity document. The address is:
Netherlands Ministry of Defence Afdeling Semi-Statische Archiefdiensten (SSA) (Semi-static Archives Services) P.O. Box 7000 6460 NC Kerkrade Netherlands
There are separate records for members of the Royal Netherlands East Indies Army (KNIL) born after 1900. These records are kept by the Stichting Administratie Indonesische Pensioenen (SAIP) (Foundation for Registration of Indonesian Pensions) (link in Dutch)

Requesting Records

A lot of the records up to WWI have been digitalised and published on the sites of the Archives Départementales.
To find the man you're looking for, you need to know 1) his year of birth, 2) where he was living when he was 20.
Once you know that, you calculate his "classe", which is his birth year + 20 years. Then you find from which "Bureau" his location depended from (a few Bureaux were set in a different département). Using the "Tables alphabétiques", you find his "numéro matricule" (serial number), then in the "Registres matricules", you find his personal record using said number.
Records for people born after 1901 are not publically available, so you have to prove your close family link with the person, unless you can prove that he's been dead for more than 25 years.
Mémoire des hommes has databases for the soldiers dead during the 20th century wars and war burials. You can also find the regiment diaries for WWI, and part of the (currently being indexed) registries for Napoleon's army.
La base Léonore contains the files for the recipients of the Légion d'honneur who died before 1977. (Some files have been lost, though.)
The Red Cross files for the WWI prisoners are available on the ICRC.

For members of the former Wehrmacht, one can request all of their records with the Deutsche Dienststelle (WASt). However, it is not possible to obtain records of surviving combatants without their permission. It is only possible to obtain information on members of the former Wehrmacht who died either in the field or in captivity, and then only with permission from the next of kin. There is an associated cost, depending on the difficulty and amount of records requested, but it is around 20€ to 30€.
The Federal Archive - Branch Office Ludwigsburg (Central Office for the Investigation of National Socialist Crimes, e-mail: [email protected]) houses data on units involved in war crimes, the scenes of these crimes, suspects and culprits, as well as persons who were mentioned in the investigations of said crimes. Therefore, it might be useful to check these archives if the searched person was part of units suspected of war crimes.
The Federal Archive - Department MA (Military Archives) houses files on :
However, this needs to be taken with a grain of salt. The Department MA has lost vast amounts of its files due to war. Most of the files are war diaries written by army commanders and files on the navy.
Department R (Reich) has the largest pool of documents (from almost all eras), but these are mainly of a civil administrative nature (justice, finance, etc.).
Kirchlicher Suchdienst is focused on persons from the former eastern territories, the Balkans or the Baltic states. It also has an archive of letters, including letters from war captivity. May be costy.
Volksbund Deutsche Kriegsgräberfürsorge e. V. an provide useful information when looking for war graves.
Additionally, the German Red Cross Tracing Service offers services that allow one to trace any missing person, be it civilian or military. This may not be the best place to look for military records, but it is a good start nonetheless.

A World Imagined

In order to sustain the presence of life and freedom on this planet Earth, it must be taken as a responsibility for the self-aware conscious beings that inhabit it, to engineer an environment of cohabitation and liberty, devoid of oppression to all other benign beings. Thus, we pledge to harmonize the functions of our labors to reverently nurture the cradle for anticipated generations, of all kinds. Striving without end, we embark on this task in gratitude, to allow nature take it's course, free of impairment. Priority of the task to embody compassion toward others will be perpetually held foremost, adapting habits to suit a symbiosis that considers the regional extents of intermingled thriving bodies, never to lessen their boundaries lest determined hazardous. Deliberation of this reasoning need not be outlined by numerous letter and character. By an evaluation of the merited, detriment or development shall be managed in appropriate fashion to align with the balances aforementioned.
The proposal being brought forward for balance and synergy with the planet, is a currency that is socially embellished by the cooperation of the people to contribute more as a whole than what is needed by the individuals. By which, making each denomination note worth more each year and eventually making itself obsolete as we move into a money free world. Imagine a currency backed by a renewable resource, with the benefit of manifesting our basic human needs and the means by which to share it for the progress of mankind. There is no other than the dog star plant to raise humanities standard of living to one of comfort for all lives.
Cannabis has been a useful plant for humanity since it's discovery several millennia ago, but around the world it was made illegal due to the U.N.’s Single Convention on Narcotic Drugs in 1961 A.D. (UN). However, people’s attitudes are changing today with Colorado, Alaska, Oregon, and Washington becoming the first states to legalize cannabis for purposes beyond medicine, we are now free to rediscover all the amazing things this plant can do for us and our planet.
As much as the digital age is fast reducing the need for printing many things, paper is very important to a modern economy as it serves as a medium for our currency, contracts, study, and especially artwork. Paper that is typically used in modern times is most often made of wood, along with chemicals not found in nature (Gendell). Needless to say, modern paper making is bad for the environment because it not only removes trees from their ecosystems, but also adds pollutants to the atmosphere by its production. Cannabis has the potential to replace wood, and does not need chemicals to become paper (General). Cannabis also produces more biomass per acre than trees, and in less time than it takes trees to grow. For comparison, one acre of cannabis will produce two crops in a year with the equivalent amount of 4 acres of trees. Cannabis can also be used to make cardboard and even tissue paper; basically every practical industry involving trees could instead be accomplished with cannabis.
Cannabis can also be eaten in a number of ways and all parts of the plant can be prepared into a wide variety of meals. It is very common for medical dispensaries to mix the flowering tops of cannabis into sweets because of its medicinal properties, and many of these sweets could pass as just regular food (Ferner). The seeds of the plant can be used to make a bread like substance known as hempseed cake. This cake is very good for whoever consumes it as it is high in many vitamins and minerals such as magnesium and manganese (Hemp Flour). The leaves and stalk of the plant can be prepared into a drink that the Indians call “bhang” (pronounced bong) it’s a very creamy and smooth drink that tastes like water if nothing is added to the original recipe, however one can add chocolate to it for flavor, or cinnamon for flavor and memory enhancing properties. Now you can eat cannabis and drink it too, all the while its good for you, they basically made the best vegetable illegal.
Cannabis has very strong fibers that can be made into products ranging from T-shirts to Hammocks. Cannabis also grows faster than traditional sources of clothing fiber such as cotton; two to three times faster to be exact (General). What this means is that cannabis is a stronger material than what people currently use now and it is also easier to grow more of it. Cannabis could therefore be a solution to clothing the world’s population at a time when many are worrying about overpopulation, and lack of resources.
The parts of the cannabis plant that are not used for fibers are known as hurds which make up about 70% of the plant’s biomass. These hurds can be used for building material when combined with lime (General). The resulting material is called hempcrete; a material which is both self-insulating and fire proof. This material also has a carbon negative action on the atmosphere, which means that it takes CO2 out of the atmosphere and locks it inside the material of the building. On top of this carbon negative benefit of hempcrete is another: reduced energy costs due to its superior insulation properties. One of the biggest contributors to greenhouse gasses in the atmosphere is human homes; making homes carbon negative and less dependent on fossil fuels could help turn the clock back when it comes to excess carbon in our atmosphere (Perritano). These buildings are not new, in fact the roman aqueducts in France were made of this same material, and are still standing today even 2000 years after Rome collapsed! This implies that carbon negative action taken now will have positive effects for generations to come. It also implies that if we made public buildings out of this material we could spend less on maintaining them, and less on replacing them.
Finding a sustainable, efficient, and clean energy source has been a very big challenge for people in the 21st Century, but the search may be over as cannabis can also be made into fuel. Biodiesel can be made out of cannabis oils from the seeds and stalk of the plant, while biofuel is made from just the stalks of cannabis (General). As stated earlier cannabis grows much faster than many plants in the world, and it can also be grown all over the world. What this implies is that people would have the ability to generate their own fuel, and in turn the laws of supply and demand would lower gas prices. Not only would gas be cheaper if we produced cannabis fuel, it would create a respiratory like cycle between cars and their fuel. CO2 would be burned and released into the atmosphere and then reabsorbed by cannabis plants ready to be turned into fuel or another product. Henry Ford even demonstrated that a car can be fueled by nothing but cannabis (Henry Ford's). Essentially what cannabis allows humans to do is have a healthy natural relationship with our planet while still enjoying the pleasures of the modern world.
Motor vehicles are a huge part of our economy given that they transport goods and people from place to place, but they are made of materials that must be mined to acquire. Luckily cannabis can be made into a light durable plastic that is ideal for motor vehicles. In fact Canadian scientists have already made one.(Gordon) The Scientists discovered that by using cannabis in the creation of this car that less fuels are needed to push the car forward because the cannabis plastic is much lighter than traditional materials. Cannabis is also stronger than steel when put in this form (Gordon). So now you can make a car out of cannabis and fuel it with cannabis, while at the same time being more efficient than regular fossil fuels and stronger than traditional car material.
The most well-known use of cannabis is its medical applications. Over 20 states in the United States have recognized that cannabis is effective when treating certain ailments. For instance just recently Utah passed a bill that allows epileptic people access to CBD oil: an extract of cannabis that prevents seizures and is known as an antipsychotic. Cannabis has another compound in it loved by patients everywhere because of its innumerable applications, that compound is known as THC. THC was the reason the plant was made illegal in the first place, but that was because people had very little knowledge of its true effects. The most shocking of these medical effects is that THC actually strengthens the brain rather than weaken it as THC protects it from neurdegeneration (Walia). This protection actually prevents Alzheimer’s disease and other symptoms of aging. THC has also been proven to reduce tumors from different cancers in multiple studies. One myth about cannabis is that it gives the consumer more lung cancer than tobacco, but the opposite is actually true cannabis cures and prevents lung cancer in the consumer, and has also been found to reduce asthma. When it comes to most cancers cannabis makes these cells wither and die; denying someone this medicine because of a propaganda campaign is morally wrong. Cannabis can be used for less serious conditions as well such as chronic pain from multiple diseases (105 Peer-Reviewed). Cannabis has also been proven to help people with bipolar disorder manage their condition by improving their memory, attention, and general attitude. THC also has the effect of improving appetite which is very valuable to AIDS patients who have trouble eating, as well as people with eating disorders. To say the least Cannabis has a lot of medical applications and more are surely going to be discovered now that people are more accepting of the plant.
Cannabis’s greatest application could be its use as a currency. Throughout history, I know of 3 monetary systems: bartering goods and services, gold/silver standard money, and fiat currency. Cannabis as a medium of exchange is not a new idea; in fact Thomas Jefferson used it as currency when the government ran out of money in May of 1781 while he was governor of Virginia.("Hemp history") Just as with gold backing, such a currency would operate by having each note redeemable for an amount of hemp, whether raw or in a refined state of oil, seed, fiber, or hurds. AN ACTUAL "federal reserve" would grow, harvest, and hold this crop, along with printing the amount of money equal to the amount of resource held, so that these notes can be redeemed at the banks for the harvested raw and/or refined hemp (oil, fiber, hurd, etc). Currently our currency is based on debt, not value, and this can lead to problems among neighbors, fearing scarcity. For every dollar we print we go that much plus interest in debt: meaning we can never pay our debt off even if we used every dollar in existence. Cannabis offers us a way out of perpetual debt, and also gives the power of currency to the people rather than the privately owned Federal Reserve.
Cannabis backed currency is a unit of accountability to our ecosystem and the betterment to our every man, woman, and child. An open worldwide market utilizing a network of claimed lands would serve as the basis for a cooperative economy and government, funded by a property tax of cannabis; that is to say, the more land that you participate with, the more cannabis you pay in taxes. The government would have to send high quality seeds to all land owning people in order for this system to be fair, but at least debt is not inherently created as a loan of principle and interest when this money enters the economy.
Citizens would replace their current currency notes at the reserve with the new cannabis notes, at the same value as compared with how much raw material that amount would purchase from the reserve. ANYone, at ANY time, has the option to grow a crop to turn in to the reserves, to attain cannabis currency (the reason that this benefit does not collapse the system and erase the need for jobs by citizens, and in turn erase capitalism markets, is because it can only be done once, possibly twice, a year).
To phase it into society, the best method would be to start with businesses that can utilize the crop either by 100% or a considerable amount, for them to pay their employees in hemp notes in a slowly increasing percentage of wages and to buy hemp ingredients for their products from the new hemp banks, at an appropriate amount per unit of the resource, in relation to the present economic state in the nation (These companies would buy, in USD, the hemp to manufacture with, until the harvesting is USD proofed; not requiring petroleum to run the machines or paying wages in USD).
After the first fiscal year, the number of circulated notes would be tallied, by the use of catalogued serial numbers (tracked like anonymous credit card numbers, tied to the hemp serial note, not the person), so that the sum could be grown to sustain the size of the economy. The supply will constantly grow and shrink at the same time because of how people consume and renew it.
As the fiscal years turn, all uncirculated notes would leave behind an amount of unredeemed hemp, that would rollover into the value of each note in the following year, i.e. out of 10 trillion pounds, if all but 1 trillion is used, then the notes are now worth 1.1x the amount as they were previously. That amount would be factored into the next year's crop size, to cover it possibly being redeemed later.
There could be a maximum of the number of years this amount would be covered by next year's crop, making inheritance of "old money" wealth out of the question and keeping the crop reserves fresh. So, if notes are not redeemed for, say, 3years, the serial numbers on the notes are "burned", removing that amount from what is to be grown the next year and making those particular notes unredeemable. This portion could be taxed to supply public sector programs with their needs, by turning into free food, clothes, shelter, fuel, etc.
The amount of hemp donated from the civilians between federally sanctioned crops would count against the amount of "hemp debt" factored for the added value notes (that didn't circulate the previous year and are not set to "burn" in that cycle) By surpassing the notes queued to cover the size of the economy for the next year, this starts to reduce interest rates on loans, potentially leading to a system that has NEGATIVE interest rates on loans.
The final reason this currency is inflation proof is that it's supplies will grow with the population: the more people alive, the more people that will want to consume cannabis, so more people will grow it. Inflation would only take place on non-renewable resources, that would increase in price with the overall amount of resource/money held at reserves, just to maintain it's rate of attainment, so as not to use these too quickly.
Cannabis can be grown everywhere humans live, so it can even be put to use as an international currency free from the barriers of languages and governments. The numbers I have crunched are only to outline a general concept. Starting with an overestimated 350 million US citizens, at 50k pounds per person, a 17.5 trillion pound reserves would be grown. Going from an estimated 6-10k pound per acre yield, it would require 1.75 to 2.92 billion acres. The US has ~2.25 billion arable acres, so this can possibly be done in a single year.
Some numbers I ran based on a full capacity use worldwide:
3.10798574 billion arable hectares of land on Earth * 2 crops a year * 8000 lbs is average between 6 and 10k lbs per hectare * 16 ounces per pound as the individual units likened to a dollar, totals 795,644,349,000,000 or 795 trillion, 644 billion, 349 million. That's the total potential of a world cannabis currency in individual slices in the pie if grown at full capacity.
Only 7.59 billion hectares are needed to give everyone on Earth a 1,250 square foot home. 971.25 trillion units worth of work that can be done in about two and a half years. On top of the fiber and hurds content used from the plant to make the houses, there would also be 3,000 lbs average of seed yield per hectare * the 3.10798574 billion hectares a year * 2 crops a year is 18,647,914,440,000 or 18.65 trillion lbs of seed, 46,619,786,100,000 or 46 trillion 619 billion 786 million 100 thousand lbs of seed after the 2.5 years to grow the hemp for fiber to build houses for everyone. 37 gallons of oil per acre from seed is 284.16 billion gallons in a year, or 710.4 billion gallons of hemp oil after the 2.5 years to grow the fiber to build houses for everyone.
That is a hypothetical cap to the planet's capacity for this economy. Even if scaling it down to small fractions of the areas mentioned, you can see that it still yields a considerable amount for trial local economies.
On top of all this the flowering tops of cannabis, which hold the most THC and CBD, would be representative of other products in the economy due to the other parts of the plant being applicable for so many uses. How could this system be managed? Since all cannabis varies a spectrometer device will be needed to “read” the THC and CBD of cannabis while simultaneously weighing it. This device could also double as a virtual wallet that would account for how many cannabinoids you have stored in the bank to avoid theft and inconvenience.
All in all, cannabis has a lot of uses, and potential uses. One day you could be driving a cannabis car, using cannabis fuel, on the way to your cannabis house, to eat your cannabis dinner, while wearing cannabis clothes, and all while everything was purchased with cannabis. This plant clearly forms a symbiotic relationship with humans, and for the health of our planet it should be accepted as a wise alternative to the harmful things we do to maintain our standard of living currently.

OBSI Releases New Binary Options Warning for Canadians

The Ombudsman for Banking Services and Investments (OBSI) has just issued a new statement titled, “Bulletin: Binary options are highly risky and can leave investors with no protection.”
If you are not familiar with OBSI, it is an independent organization which provides mediation between financial businesses and Canadian customers.
In the new bulletin, OBSI discusses how measures taken to ban binary options trading in Canada have not been successful in fully eliminating offshore trading by Canadian citizens. Citizens have simply looked into alternative payment options, and have continued to lose money.
OBSI explains how customers who have lost money unfairly through binary options trading have attempted to initiate credit card chargebacks where applicable. They have been turned down by both the card issuers and their banks. OBSI says that the banks are simply conforming to their regular protocols, and do not owe the consumers a refund. As to the card issuers, it seems that they do not provide purchase protection in situations like these.
If Canadian consumers want protection for their purchases, they need to invest only through legitimate companies which are legally operating in Canada.

#CannabisCurrency

[Just Launched] Options Domination Binary Trading - [Amazing System] - True Risk Free Trades! [New for 2015]

Many brokers or services will market something called “risk free” trades in which a certain number of your first trades you can get your money back should the signals they give you prove to be of bad quality. In most cases there are many regulations that require you to keep investing a certain amount before you can withdraw your “risk free” trades. This is the sign of a bad signal provider that probably makes more money selling their signals then they do actually implementing them themselves.
In our case study of the system we won 5 out of 7 of the trades and pocketed $250 in profit which is a 25% return on a small investment. We were very impressed with these results. At that time we could have elected to withdraw our original $1,000 and essentially be playing with the $250 “on the house”. CLICK HERE TO GET YOUR RISK FREE TRADES NOW!
CLICK HERE TO GET YOUR RISK FREE TRADES NOW!
Using their basic system of signals we were able to accumulate over $10,000 in our account in just 30 days! These are better results then we have gotten with other binary signals costing 10 times the amount of what options domination is charging. For a simple $50 a month you get multiple daily signals, keep in mind they don’t send you 1,000’s of signals a day like most services as they are focusing on the quality of the signal and not just sending you a bunch of garbage signals like many of the other companies do.
